Morning Routine

I know you probably hear about this all the time but I have to say this is something I have learned to be very true for me! Having a morning routine that successfully sets you up for the day is something that I can very much attest to. The days I do my morning routine start to finish turn out the be the best days and the days I fell the best and have the best mindset. I used to not notice until I had been consistent with my morning routine for a few months and then let it slide for a few weeks. I was more irritated, more overwhelms and let things get to me much quicker and easier. The days I set myself up for the days I truly felt it. And I felt like I would be able to handle anything life threw at me that day with ease and grace.

Everyone has to find what works for them but to give you some inspiration here is the morning routine that sets me up for a day of happiness and success.

  1. WATER! - I always have water next to my bed. The absolute best thing for me everyday to drink at least 8 ounces of water right away. The days I do this I will drink water all day long and make sure I really the amount of water I need to for the day. And the days I don't do this.. well I barley drink half the intake of water I should be. I need to get water right into my system so my body starts to activate and get ready for the day!

  2. Journaling and gratitude while in bed. - When I first open eyes and journal while I am still in bed it truly makes me feel better. Writing down any dreams I had and also writing down how I am currently feeling as soon as I am up gets all those thoughts and feelings write out of my body. Whatever comes to mind I write so I am starting the day not holding on to anything from the night prior or the day before. Then I go into gratitude! I normally write down at least three things I am grateful for. Sometimes they are specific things and sometimes they are as simple as I am grateful to be alive today! Writing as soon as I open my eyes and haven't even left the bed yet make me feel that much lighter stepping out of bed.

  3. Meditate. - Recently I have been doing this in bed as well right after my journaling and gratitude. I will put on a mediation to clear my mind for the day and start thinking the thoughts and feeling the feelings I want to experience that day. I normally pick a guided mediation from YouTube or Spotify. I have listened to ones from Joe Dispenza and Wayne Dyer. Most recently I have been listening to Louise Hay's Morning Meditation on Spotify and have really been enjoying that. Meditating first thing in the morning really shifts my mindset for the rest of the day. It keeps my mindset in a more positive mode than in a negative one. I notice the days I meditate first thing upon getting up that I can access situations more clearly and from a less emotional viewpoint.

  4. Hot water and lemon. - I am not a coffee drinker and never have been. I am a tea girl for sure! But I LOVE a hot water and lemon, with some honey on occasion to sip on in the early rising of the day. This gives me a moment of relaxation and the hot water and lemon aides in digestion to start the body off on the right foot everyday.

  5. Stretching/Movement. - This I really do to make sure my body is ready to move for the day! I do a series of stretches and tapping exercises to activate my body and make sure that my body is ready to handle the day ahead. Then I move right into a walk with my dog!

  6. Nature.- Getting outside in the early rising is so important to me! This is my special time with my dog as well. Going to the park and getting into nature is THE absolute best way I set up my day. I also try to walk in the grass or on the beach bare foot as long as the weather permits to really ground myself into nature. This is so important to me. The days I ground I am so much more centered and present with myself. And the days I don't I am overwhelmed easily and overthinking majorly. Grounding keeps me connected to the calmness inside me that I need harness through nature. It also is the quality time I need with my dog everyday to focus on her and make sure her needs are met. Letting her sniff and explore as we walk along the grass over our favorite park in the best way I end my morning routine.

Start to think about what sets you up for a day of success! And if you don't know where to start try one of mine above and see how it feels. It is a process creating a morning routine that works fro you and it will change. You may find certain things that have been working for you for months or even years no longer work anymore and that is okay. The purpose of a morning routine is to guide you into the best day you can have!
